I liked your article, Jory. Listening is so hard, but writers especially need to learn how to do it. I remember feeling like writer's workshop was like joining the army -- they broke me in order to build me back up. I lost any sense of personal hubris in writer's workshop, but it was a huge gift to be able to learn to accept feedback about your work -- even your opinions and self -- without becoming defensive. Listening is really, really hard, and few adults know how to do it.
