For those of you who spend more of your time offline than on, you might not be aware that the Golden Globes of Interactive Conferences is about to begin....
I refer to SXSW Interactive that way because the Golden Globes, while extremely important on the Hollywood scene, is more informal, more about having a good time. People let loose, don't have such a tight ass while walking the red carpet. Likewise, SXSW is informative and a great place to network, but most importantly--as veteran attendees keep telling me--it's a party.
So I'll basically be spending the next four days at the party and reporting back on the blog. I took an hour to pull together my schedule for the event--there are so many things to do it's like strategizing a day at Disney World. It reads like: panel, panel, Happy Hour, Dinner at X, stop into Y party, end at Z party? I haven't party hopped like this since college. I keep telling myself, don't forget to drink lots of water.
So what's the big whoop on my schedule? The BlogHer Meet-up on Friday and the BlogHer Panels on Saturday and Sunday. On Monday I'll be interviewed on the show floor at Studio SX, and on Monday night I, and 19 other artists, musicians, and bon-vivants (their word, not mine) will offer-up our infinite wisdom at 20x2, where we answer the question: What's the Secret?
Mind you, there is no secret behind this question. Everytime I've mentioned this interesting assignment I'm asked, "What secret?" That's just it: I have NO IDEA! But I think that's the fun part. We all can interpret the question in our own way.
Is there such a thing as having too much fun? We'll find out.
Will look forward to reading all about it. (Boy, how far SXSW has come since its early days of bands just trying to get heard...ha!)
